Ben Kaplan's journey to becoming an advocate for college affordability began with a setback. A high school tennis player with dreams of a scholarship, his plans were derailed by a stress fracture. This pushed Ben to explore other ways to fund college. Determined, he applied for over three dozen scholarships, winning 24 and securing $90,000 in funding. Combined with AP credits, he graduated debt-free from Harvard in 1999.

During his senior year, he wrote How to Go to College Almost for Free, which became a bestseller, selling over two million copies. Ben's strategies were featured on Oprah, CNN, and Good Morning America. He later became a sought-after speaker, columnist for top publications, and an education correspondent, empowering thousands with his scholarship insights.

The Scholaroo Revolution

In 2019, Ben took his passion for educational accessibility a step further by founding Scholaroo, an innovative platform that streamlines the scholarship search process. With the mission to make financial aid and personal finance more accessible for students, Scholaroo has grown to include resources on student loans, credit cards, and other critical topics.

The platform, expanded in 2023, is now a comprehensive hub for students looking to navigate the often complex world of college funding.
